Headingley has been dubbed the number one suburb of Leeds, and it's no surprise why. Getting Around in Headingley

Being only a 15 minute drive from the city centre, Headingley is a particularly convenient location for getting around in Leeds. There are regular bus times to and from the city centre, and excellent train links. If you're quite active, and don't mind a walk, you can enjoy a stroll down Otley Road to and from the city centre.

  • Buses - The Metro bus service runs throughout Leeds, and the whole of West Yorkshire. There are a number of buses that run every 10 minutes, to take you to and from the City centre of Leeds. For example, the number 1, 6, and 97 bus service.
  • Trains - There are 2 train stations - Headingley and Burley Park - that have a regular service to take you in to the City, using the Harrogate line with services to Knaresborough and York.
  • Driving - Otley Road will take you directly in to the City. This long stretch of road is ideal for drivers, as it is quick and easy. Using the same road, travelling in the opposite direction will take you to Otley and Ilkley.

Food & Drinks

Although Headingley has become increasingly more popular, it still maintains a relaxed atmosphere, and with its abundance of bars and restaurants it is the perfect spot to go out for food and drinks.

For those days and nights when you feel like getting out, Headingley has its own cinema, situated on Cottage Road, which has been showing films since 1912 and screens the most popular films out to date. It is located in Far Headingley, and is ideal for those relaxed weekend evenings or rainy afternoons.

If you love the outdoors, Headingley is known for its stunning parks. From The Hollies, Meanwood Park, Woodhouse Ridge, Beckett Park, West Park Fields, and Woodhouse Moor, to the smaller Sparrow Park and Dagmar Wood, you won't be short of beautiful parks and walks, right on your doorstep in Headingley!

Beckett Park also includes its own outdoor gym equipment, tennis courts, and kids play area, making it the perfect spot to send a Summer afternoon.

Sport

The famous Headingley Stadium, home to Leeds Rhinos rugby team, has presented more than 40 international rugby league matches. This is located in the heart of Headingley, so if you're a rugby fan this could be in walking distance from your Headingley home!

Next door to the stadium is the cricket ground, which is also home to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Some spectators have witnessed some of the best moments in cricket at these grounds.

The Leeds Beckett University Headingley campus can be found on Church Wood Ave, LS6 3QS.

The Headingley campus is set in 100 acres of grassland, with stress-free access to Leeds City centre. This campus is less than 3 miles from the City and consists of the main sporting facilities including, pitches, tennis courts, and a running track. Headingley is also located a short distance from other Leeds Beckett campuses such as, City centre campus, Broadcasting Place, and The Rose Bowl. it is also in close proximity to the University of Leeds, as you enter Leeds City centre.
