Headingley
Headingley is home to the heart of Leeds’s student population. It has everything
you could possibly need from clothes shops to cobblers and the recent redevelopment
of the Arndale centre only adds to the charm.
There are more pubs than you can shake a stick at and with the locally famous Otley
run you can don a ridiculous outfit, gather your friends and take them all in at
once, Woodies, The Tree Horseshoes, The New Inn, Headingley Taps, The Arc, The Box,
The Skyrack and The Oak.
There are many eateries throughout Headingley, from Brett’s fish restaurant who
serve lobster tails and chips to Citrus for that Mediterranean feel. Headingley
boasts a huge range of shops and with the new addition of a Sainsbury right in the
heart of Headingley your shopping has never been easier.
Not forgetting the Headingley Carnegie stadium which is home to the Yorkshire county
cricket club, Leeds rhinos and Leeds Carnegie. The stadium has hosted ashes test
matches in the last two series, so there is truly international sport on your doorstep.
Hyde Park
Second only to Hyde Park in terms of student population this diverse area of Leeds
is the perfect student area. With the Hyde Park pub and the Royal Oak there is always
somewhere to meet and socialize, along with the Brudenell social club which has
hosted secret gigs by the Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand no less. There are many
shops with a Sainsbury and international supermarket right in the heart.
Finding food should never be a problem there are nearly more takeaways than people
in Hyde Park, so there’s something for everyone’s taste.
City Centre
We could take up pages telling you all the wonders Leeds city centre has to offer, but you can be sure that it has something for everyone.
Highlights are the Victorian quarter with high end designer shops where you are sure to blow your student loan, millennium square which hosts an ice rink in winter and a variety of markets and shows throughout the year.
There are also plenty of bars and clubs with some of the best nightlife in the UK.
Clarence dock
An exciting waterside development only seconds from the city centre, boasts its own shopping centre, with makes such as firetrap, Armani and all saints. It is situated right next the free Royal Armories museum which is well worth a visit
