This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of heading over to the First Direct Arena in Leeds to watch a huge clash in the Netball Super League — Leeds Rhinos vs. Loughborough Lightning. Let me tell you, from the moment I stepped into the arena, I knew this was going to be more than just a game. It was an experience.

The atmosphere was electric. You could feel the buzz before you even got through the doors — crowds of fans wearing Rhino’s blue and gold, the sound of excited chatter and laughter, and the unmistakable pulse of music coming from inside. This wasn’t just a sporting event — it was a celebration of netball, of community, and of team spirit.

The arena itself was packed, and the crowd energy was unreal. Whether you were a seasoned fan or new to the game, you couldn’t help but get swept up in it. From the get-go, there was a wave of cheers every time a Rhinos player stepped on court for warm-ups, and the excitement only built from there. There were chants and every big play was met with roars that echoed through the arena.

It’s hard to overstate how much the supporters brought the game to life. The Rhinos fans were out in full force and backing their team with passion. Even neutral attendees couldn’t resist getting involved. It was one of those rare sporting atmospheres where the energy in the crowd felt like an eighth player on court.

The game itself was intense — Loughborough Lightning came in as strong contenders, and they lived up to their reputation. But the Rhinos pushed them hard. Every quarter was edge-of-your-seat action: fast breaks, clinical shooting, interceptions, and gritty defence. It was a showcase of top-level netball, and both teams gave it everything.

What stood out to me, beyond the athleticism and skill, was how the crowd stayed loud and supportive the entire way through. Even in the tightest moments, when the Rhinos were fighting to stay in the game, the fans were rallying behind them. The energy never dipped. That kind of unwavering support is what sport is all about — a real connection between players and fans.

By the end, Loughborough Lightning edged the win, but honestly, the scoreline almost didn’t matter. The whole experience — the connection, the passion, the sheer fun of being part of something bigger — made it a day to remember. Leeds Rhinos may not have taken the win this time, but they won the crowd, and that’s saying something.

If you’ve never been to a live netball match, I can’t recommend it enough. Especially if you get the chance to see the Rhinos play at home. It’s more than a game — it’s an atmosphere you must feel to believe.
